
Bank of Mexico governor Alejandro Diaz de León
The governor of the Bank of Mexico has appeared to make veiled criticisms of the country’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with whom he has clashed repeatedly.
Alejandro Diaz de León issued a staunch defence of liberal economics and consensus politics in a high-profile lecture hosted by the International Monetary Fund.
Diaz de León also warned that emerging markets face a much more challenging task than advanced economies in recovering from the pandemic.
