JACKSON COUNTY, MI — Due to staff shortages, the Legacy Assisted Living Center is aiming to relocate a select number of its elderly residents on a “short-term” basis.
Paul Buchholz, administrator and owner of Ganton Retirement Centers, said his organization has contacted the family members of eight residents about relocating as of June 7.
Buchholz said residents of the facility, which is located at 5025 Ann Arbor Road in Leoni Township, were contacted regarding the move in recent weeks.
“At this time, we’re making sure our residents are safe and getting quality care,” Buchholz said.
Buchholz said his organization has consulted with the Homes for the Aged Licensing Division of Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs throughout the decision-making process.
Suzanne Thelen, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs communications director, confirmed this.
Buchholz said he expects the relocation to be a short-term process, and no evictions are being made until quality housing alternatives are identified, which could include other Ganton facilities such as the Arbor Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Spring Arbor, and the Summit Park Assisted Living Center in Summit Township.
