Asia stocks edge higher; growth, inflation fears check gains
Asian shares inched up on Tuesday morning as positive economic data and hints of easing Sino-U.S. tensions offered some respite to the recent sell-offs, though persistent fears about a global recession and sky-high inflation kept most buyers at bay. MSCI’s gauge of Asia Pacific stocks outside Japan was up 0.3%, having erased part of the early morning gains.
Brent up as strike in Norway threatens to disrupt oil, gas output
Brent crude futures extended gains on Tuesday as a strike in Norway is expected to disrupt oil and gas output, fanning tight supply worries. Brent crude futures rose 82 cents, or 0.7%, to $114.32 a barrel by 0105 GMT after a 2.4% gain on Monday.
Tokyo shares open higher
Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as investors searched for clues while US markets were closed for a national holiday. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.74 percent, or 193.31 points, to 26,347.12 in early trade, while the broader Topix index climbed 0.55 percent, or 10.36 points, to 1,880.07.
SGX Nifty signals a positive start
Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange traded 45.5 points, or 0.29 per cent, higher at 15,869, signaling that Dalal Street was headed for a positive start on Tuesday.

PTC India and RCI Industries & Technologies are among companies which will announce their quarterly earnings today.
Tech View: Nifty50 stays in consolidation range; bias positive
Analysts said that the index may continue to remain in the consolidation range with a positive bias, as long as it does not breach the 15,900 level decisively on the upside. They see strong support for the index at the 15,700 level.
Rupee recoups losses to close flat at 78.95 against dollar
The rupee paired its early losses to close almost flat at 78.95 against the US dollar on Monday due to weakness in the greenback, lower crude oil prices and gains in the local stock markets.
Sensex, Nifty on Monday
The 30-pack index rose 327 points to end at 53,235. Its broader peer Nifty50 added 83 points to settle at 15,835. Thirty-six of 50 Nifty stocks rose, while 14 settled with cuts.
