The Slovenian Ministry of Finance Oct. 28 opened a consultation on a draft bill for the taxation of digital currency transactions. The draft bill includes measures that would: 1) establish a 10 percent tax rate on the amount redeemed by individual residents from digital currency transactions; 2) exempt individuals with annual income of up to 15,000 euros (US$17,449); 3) impose a 25 percent tax on unrealized gains based on transaction prices; and 4) impose a fine of between 250 euros (US$291) and 5,000 euros (US$5,821) for noncompliance.
